Journeys Shoes 2014 Summer Campaign
San Antonio, TX
So here it is. I’ve been holding off releasing these images for a couple months now. As a photographer shooting for any company, label (anything really) you have to do this with every shoot. Realistically, all those people that plan these photo shoots in advance to release them at a specific time. I photographed these images in June, second day of Warped Tour this summer. It is currently the last week of Warped Tour.
From the behind the scenes video, the polariods my assistant Dan took, and teasers of these images being posted through Journeys, I’ve never been so anxious… I remember getting a call from Journeys about a month in advance to the shoot after they contacted a few photographers. They enjoyed a lot of my candid work and negative space in some of my images and wanted a same style look I’ve shot in the past. Easy…right? Before coming into the shoot I knew I had a few options/things I had to set up before this.
1- First off, I only knew one of the artists they wanted me to shoot (Anthony of Bayside). It’s hard to automatically go into a shoot with no previous interaction at all, I think.
2- Did I want to shoot this with strobes, or natural light? They mentioned they wanted to go off sight, but still an outside location.
3- Have to scout out locations extremely early the morning of the shoot because I clearly am not familiar with a San Antonio parking lot…
4- Hire an assistant to shoot behind the scenes photo/video
5- Make sure that this shoot didn’t conflict with my commitment of plans with Mayday Parade schedule and was free.
There is a few more questions I had coming into shoot but I pretty much pulled it together in less than 3 days.
The first image is the actual ad that was first released in Alternative Press Magazine. The other images are the first that Journeys released as teasers and they just happen to be my favorites from the shoot as well. Couldn’t be more excited to work with them again.
